Surgery - Postoperative Clinical Manager, PACU

  • The Postoperative Clinical Coordinator has operational responsibilities for  all the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) within the Wise Health Systems organization.
  • Coordinates care for pediatric, adolescent, geriatric patients through the use of the nursing process; responsible for assuring that each patient is assessed, monitored, and reassessed per ASPAN standards to facilitate a positive patient outcome.
  • Each plan of care will include but not limited to patient and family education and discharge instructions.
  • Works cooperatively with ancillary departments and other clinical team personnel in maintaining the standards for professional nursing practice.
  • Participates in nursing policy implementation; represents patient and staff needs to the Director of Perioperative Services, and acts as a resource for unit staff.
  • Assists in the assignment of personnel, the coordination of the Postoperative process per ASPAN standards, and oversees postoperative chart auditing process.   
  • Responsible for the orientation and education of unit personnel.
  • Assists in the collection of data for Performance Improvement activities.
  • Serves on committees per the direction of the Director of Perioperative  Services.
  • These functions are carried out according to Wise Health System policy, mission statement and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge base and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the condition and age of the patients served.  The nurse must demonstrate familiarity with the principles of growth and development throughout the life cycle. 
  • The nurse must be able to assimilate basic knowledge and patient related data to perform a comprehensive and age appropriate assessment.
  • The Postoperative Clinical Coordinator is under the direction of the Director of Perioperative Services and the administrative direction of the Chief Nursing Officer.
  • 1)  Possess current licensure to practice nursing in Texas  
  • 2)  Minimum of 3 years experience in Postoperative setting.
  • 3)  Must be certified in BCLS, ACLS and PALS 
  • 1.) CNOR  or CCRN
Must have current licensure/certifications upon hire. 

New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required Basic Life Support (CPR, ACLS, PALS, BLS, and/or any other life support certifications required for the job).
  • Non-exempt hourly
  • There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills splashes during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.
Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
