Pediatrics - Pediatric Staff RN

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Coordinates nursing care and patient/family education for patients 0 to age 18 through the use of the nursing process; maintains positive working relationships with staff and other departments to provide optimal quality outcomes within the framework of professional nursing practice. 
  • These responsibilities are met according to hospital policy, hospital mission statement and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge base and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the condition and age of the patients served.  The nurse must demonstrate familiarity with the principles of growth and development throughout the life cycle. 
  • The nurse must be able to assimilate basic knowledge and patient related data to perform a comprehensive and age appropriate assessment.
 
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: 
  • Operationally, the Staff RN reports to the Unit Team Leader, Department Manager and the House Supervisor, and administratively to the Chief Nursing Officer.

 
REQUIREMENTS:    
  • 1.) Possess current licensure to practice nursing in Texas    
  • 2.) Must be certified in BCLS   
  • 3.) PALS or obtain within 2 months of date of hire.

RECOMMENDED:     
  • 1.) ACLS    
  • 2.) Specialty Certification   
  • 3.) NRP


Must have current licensure/certifications upon hire. 

New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required Basic Life Support (CPR, ACLS, PALS, BLS, and/or any other life support certifications required for the job).
 
 
OSHA TASK CATEGORY ONE:    
  • There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills splashes during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.
 
Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
