IP Rehab - CNA/PCA/Ward Clerk, Decatur

POSITION SUMMARY: 
  • The CNA/PCA provides assistance with the activities of daily living for Newborn, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric Patients. 
  • This assistance and bedside care is rendered under direction of a licensed nurse. 
  • The CNA/PCA participates in the nursing process by assisting the licensed nurse through communication, observation, and implementation of care of a group of patients. 
  • The CNA/PCA will perform duties in a customer friendly and safe manner. 

The Ward Clerk assumes responsibilities for clerical support of the nursing unit. 

This may include but is not limited to the following functions:
  • 1.) assist in the admission and dismissal process;
  • 2.) maintain patient records;
  • 3.) maintain accurate communications: coordinates unit communication with other departments in customer-friendly and safe atmosphere;
  • 4.) transcribe physician orders;
  • 5.) maintain an efficient nursing station;
  • 6.) other duties as assigned by supervising RN. 
Positive and friendly attitude,  good communication skills, and unit specific competency training and evaluation.
 
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
  • Directly reports to Licensed Nurse in charge of patient care, or Charge Nurse.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
  •  1) CPR certified
  •  2) Certification preferred
 
New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required Basic Life Support (CPR, ACLS, PALS, BLS, and/or any other life support certifications required for the job).
 
PREFERRED:  
  • 1.  HS graduate or GED preferred 
  • 2.  Previous clinical experience.  
  • 3.  Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia recognition or telemetry training
 
OSHA TASK CATEGORY ONE:
  • There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills splashes during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.
 
Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
