Cath Lab - RN, Fort Worth

 SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • The Cath Lab RN coordinates nursing care and patient/family education for adult and geriatric patients through the use of the nursing process.
  • They exhibit a knowledge base and skill set necessary to provide nursing care appropriate to the condition and age of the patients served and variety of procedures performed in the cardiac catheterization lab.
  • They are responsible for all aspects of diagnostic and interventional procedures performed; demonstrating the ability to function in all of the three positions (circulate, scrub, and monitor).
  • The Cath Lab RN assesses the procedure room for equipment functions and readiness obtaining supplies for individual cases and ensures all appropriate needs of the Cardiac Cath Lab team are met.
  • They must also demonstrate the ability to multi-task in a fast paced work environment, which includes working with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes continuously communicating with the physician as needed about patient condition.
  • Performs unit-based activities, participates in performance improvement, continuous quality improvement, and infection control activities in the Cath Lab.
  • Maintains the ability and willingness to establish and sustain clinical competencies as required and assigned for the Cath Lab.
  • They are also required to be willing to educate, train, and precept new hires and float RN staff.
  • The Cath Lab RN is responsible for giving safe patient care, and maintaining a positive working relationship with staff and other departments to provide optimal quality outcomes within the framework of the professional nursing practice according to hospital policy, hospital mission statement and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing.
  • Maintains the ability and willingness to establish and sustain clinical competencies as required and assigned for the Cath Lab.
  • Experience in cardiac rhythm recognition.
 
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: 
  • Staff RN reports directly to the Cath Lab Director and administratively to the Chief Clinical Officer.
 
REQUIREMENTS:   
  • 1.) Possess current licensure to practice nursing in Texas     
  • 2.) Must be certified in BCLS    
 
 Must have current licensure/certifications upon hire. 

New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required Basic Life Support (CPR, ACLS, PALS, BLS, and/or any other life support certifications required for the job).
 
RECOMMENDED:    
  • 1.) 2 years Cath Lab experience preferred                         
 
OSHA TASK CATEGORY ONE:  
  • There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills splashes during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.
 
Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
