Assistant Director of Education - Ancillary / Therapy Services, Decatur

 JOB SUMMARY: 
  • The Assistant Director of Education – Ancillary / Therapy Services is responsible for the content and consultative direction of the online Elsevier educational platform, for the hospital ancillary services.
  • They will also act as a liaison with healthcare programs and colleges/universities.
  • The educator will stay current on credentialing changes/updates and alert the pertinent department’s management.
  • The educator is responsible for collaborating with each ancillary services director in planning CE needs for employees, maintaining licensure, and all pertinent certifications (BLS, CPR, etc.).
  • They also organize and coordinate community high school, technical college and university educational and mentoring opportunities, for students interested in ancillary healthcare fields, and employees interested in advancing their education.
  • The educator will create reports and presentations as needed for departments, regulatory agencies, and hospital administration.
  • The educator is able to work independently and is responsible for knowing and understanding hospital and departmental policies and procedures and security operations.
  • The educator will demonstrate good communication skills and the ability to work well with others and serve as a leader within the organization. 
  • The Educator will perform other duties as assigned by the WHS Director of Clinical Education.    
 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
  • Ancillary Care refers to the wide range of healthcare services provided to support the work of a primary physician, in the IP, OP, and ED settings.

Reporting Relationship:
  • WHS Director of Clinical Education, with accountability to Vice Presidents of Ancillary Services, Ancillary Services and Clinics, and Secondary Markets.
 
REQUIREMENTS: 
  • 1) Associate’s degree in ancillary healthcare field
  • 2)  Minimum five years ancillary healthcare hospital experience
  • 3) Skilled in the use of Microsoft products such as Word, Power Point and Excel
  • 4) Possess critical thinking skills and decisive judgment ability
  • 5) Able to work with minimal supervision
  • 6) Exceptional customer service and written & verbal communication skills
 
PREFERRED:  
  • 1) Bachelor’s degree in ancillary healthcare field
  • 2) Experience in education and online educational formats
  • 3) Knowledge of the principles of adult education and learning strategies
  • 4) Sound public speaking skills and knowledge of higher education processes

Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Intermittent walking, sitting and standing, some bending, stooping and reaching is required with the lifting of items.
