Fit-N-Wise - Group Exercise Instructor Sub, Decatur

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. The group exercise instructor will conduct an instructional fitness program (instruct / lead an exercise class) aimed at improved strength, flexibility, endurance, and cardiovascular fitness through a variety of exercises using various exercise equipment. 
  2. The instructor should possess a working knowledge of physical fitness and conditioning / training, including body processes, muscle groups, and body mechanics; have a clear understanding of maintaining, cleaning, and storing all equipment and supplies associated with group exercise programs.
  3. The instructor should provide a friendly and inviting experience and possess the ability to incorporate personality and communication, personal physical ability, voice projection, etc. as prescribed by FIT N WISE as suggested by AEA/ ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) guidelines into the fitness program.
 
REPORT RELATIONSHIP: 
  • Reports to the Fitness Programs Manager
 
REQUIREMENTS: 
  • 1) High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 2) Possess a current Group Exercise Instructor Certificate from one of the acceptable trainer certifications – NASM, ACSM, IYCA, ACE, COOPER, ISSA-(or specialized certification) or ability to become certified within 6 months
  • 3) Possess a current CPR certificate or ability to become CPR certified within 30 days

Competencies:
  1. Working knowledge of ACSM fitness guidelines.
  2. Competent in Emergency protocol.
  3. Communicates well and provides good customer service for members.


New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required Basic Life Support (CPR, ACLS, PALS, BLS, and/or any other life support certifications required for the job).


OSHA TASK:  
  • Category three - There is no anticipated risk of exposure to mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashed during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing a task that is likely to cause exposure.

Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
