  • The OB Tech provides assistance with the activities of daily living for Newborn, Adolescent, and Adult patients. 
  • The OB Tech functions under the direction of a licensed nurse to assist in routine patient care on the Perinatal Unit. 
  • The OB Tech participates in keeping with training and experience in the nursing process by assisting the licensed nurse through communication, observation, and implementation of care of a group of patients
  • The OB Tech can serve as a receptionist for all patients and visitors
  • The OB Tech assists in the admission and dismissal process
  • The OB Tech keeps charts current
  • The OB Tech works closely with other departments
  • The OB Tech perform duties within and maintains a safe and well stocked environment
  • The OB Tech will transcribes physician’s orders accurately and as soon as possible;
  • The OB Tech maintains an efficient nursing station; provides accurate and appropriate statistical information
  • Basic computer skills
  • Positive, friendly attitude             
  • Good communication skills
  • Directly reports to the Unit Team Leader and the Perinatal Unit Manager
  • Directly supervises no employees
  • 1)  CPR certified 
  • 2)  Certified Scrub Tech or obtain certification within 6 months of date of hire

New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required Basic Life Support (CPR, ACLS, PALS, BLS, and/or any other life support certifications required for the job).
  • Previous clinical experience
  • Non-Exempt Hourly     
  • There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills splashes during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.
Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
