  • The Surgery Clinical Manager has operational responsibilities for the Operating Room.
  • The Surgical Manager verifies that perioperative personnel provide safe patient care in the area managed.
  • Incorporates and assist perioperative personnel with assimilating evidence-based standards into decisions for the provision of safe patient care.
  • Assists perioperative personnel in evaluating practice and creating strategies for further improvement.
  • Verifies that educational resources are available for perioperative team education and holds staff accountable for attendance.
  • Coordinates, facilitates, and manages change within the surgical department.
  • Demonstrates effective communication, consultation, negotiation, and collaboration skills with members of the perioperative team and other stake holders.
  • Uses effective conflict resolution techniques.
  • Facilitates or serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning perioperative patient care.
  • Evaluates perioperative personnel selection.
  • Verifies that appropriate personnel, equipment, and supplies are available.
  • Verifies perioperative personnel compliance with organization policies and procedures and regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Provides guidance, support, and constructive feedback to surgical team.
  • Exhibits professional, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Uses project management principals.
  • Assesses and responds appropriately to organization culture.
  • Pursues professional growth and participates in a professional organization.
  • Acts as a patient advocate and maintains privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge base and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the condition and age of the patients served. 
  • The nurse must demonstrate familiarity with the principles of growth and development throughout the life cycle. 
  • The nurse must be able to assimilate basic knowledge and patient related data to perform a comprehensive and age appropriate assessment.
  • The Surgery Clinical Manager collaborates with the Director of Perioperative Services and associates and is under the administrative direction of the Chief Clinical Officer.
  • 1.) Possess current licensure to practice nursing in Texas    
  • 2.) Must be certified in BCLS   
  • 3) Minimum of 5 years of Surgery experience 
  • 4)  Management experience preferred  
  • 5) BSN preferred   
  • 6)  ACLS preferred  
  • 7) CNOR preferred

Must have current licensure/certifications upon hire. 

New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required Basic Life Support (CPR, ACLS, PALS, BLS, and/or any other life support certifications required for the job).
  • There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills splashes during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.

Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
