Laboratory - Lab Supervisor, Argyle FT M-F, 6am-2:30pm

  • Plans, coordinates, and directs the daily activities of the department and performs technical and sophisticated testing procedures to obtain timely and accurate clinical data. 
  • The supervisor is responsible for monitoring actions of all personnel who report to them, while providing quality service and ensuring compliance with CAP, JC, FDA, AABB, and CLIA standards. 
  • Provides training and technical assistance to laboratory personnel.
  • Ensures validity and accuracy of test results by reviewing result logs, QC, and worksheets where applicable. 
  • Supervisor must strive to provide various services needed by the hospital to enhance patient outcomes.
  • The supervisor must continually strive to improve knowledge in leadership and technological skills through formal and informal education. 
  • The supervisor will continually review and update information for age-related patient care addressing neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

  • Operationally, reports to the Laboratory Director.
  • Collaborates with the Laboratory Director at Wise Parkway and Decatur Hospitals.
  • 1) MT/MLS with a Bachelor Degree in Biological Science or MLT with an Associate Degree
  • 2) Knowledge of JC regulatory requirements preferred.         
  • 3) Must pass WorkSTEPS and color blind test
  • 4) One year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employees when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.
Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.

New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required Basic Life Support (CPR or any other life support certifications required for the job).
