  • The LVN Anesthesia Technician provides assistance to the anesthesiologist and CRNA’s in the provision of anesthesia services. 
  • The LVN Anesthesia Technician assists the licensed anesthesia providers in the acquisition, preparation and application of the equipment and supplies required for the administration of anesthesia.
  • In this role they contribute to safe and efficient anesthesia care.
  • They provide support to anesthesia in routine and complex surgical cases; provide service by preparing and maintaining patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems before, during and after anesthesia.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies needed to administer anesthesia.  
  • Coordinate and setup all anesthesia-related equipment and supplies before each case.
  • Evaluate the daily surgery schedule for needs, oversee daily operations, retrieve and setup additional equipment and supplies when needed. 
  • Maintain supply par levels, retrieve and order supplies as needed.  
  • Clean and disinfect equipment after every case and perform a terminal clean to each anesthetizing location room at the end of the day. 
  • Retrieve additional medication and blood products including checking blood products with licensed personnel. 
  • Perform POCT (point of care testing) as related to Anesthesia. 
  • Assists Anesthesia providers and other medical personnel with inductions, airway management, non-invasive and invasive line placement, positioning patients, specialized procedures and transporting to and from anesthetizing locations. 
  • Possess the competence and knowledge to operate, support, and troubleshoot anesthesia-related equipment. 
  • Successful completion of competencies related to inspection, calibration, utilization, troubleshooting and understanding of all electronic equipment utilized by Anesthesia and other medical personnel. 
  • Ensure equipment is properly functioning and operational per manufacturer requirements. 
  • Responsible for equipment procurement and replacement. 
  • Conduct proper handling, storage, cleaning, and sterilization of all anesthesia equipment per manufacture requirements.
  • 1) LVN
  • 2) CPR certified
  • 3) Unit specific competency training and evaluation
  • 4) HS graduate or GED
  • 5) Previous clinical/surgery experience preferred.
  • 6) Call may be required
Must have current licensure/certifications upon hire. 

New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required Basic Life Support

  • Able to lift 10-20 pounds daily

  • Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities as assigned. 
  • Follows guidelines, policies and safety requirements as determined by all relevant regulatory and standard setting agencies or organizations.  Practices within the system and departmental policies and procedures. 
  • Provides assistance with Anesthesia care including induction, maintenance, and emergent cases under the supervision of the Anesthesia provider. 
  • Assists with general and regional anesthesia demonstrating knowledge of anatomy and physiology as applied to anesthesia care.
  • Operationally, the Anesthesia Technician is under the direction and supervision of the RN Circulator, Anesthesia Staff, and Surgery Manager.
  • Administratively the anesthesia tech under the Director of Surgery and Chief Nursing Officer.
  • Non-exempt hourly

  • There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills splashes during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.
