Surgery - SPD Tech, Argyle FT 1p-9:30p

  • The SPD Technician is responsible for cleaning, assembly, basic maintenance, storage, and sterilization for all instruments used in the operating room. 
  • This includes, but is not limited to, instrument sets, specialty instruments, endoscopic instruments, implants, and vendor supplied instruments. 
  • Good communication skills
  • The SPD Technician is under the direct supervision of the Sterile Processing Lead Technician and Surgery Team Lead/Charge for general responsibilities.
  • Administratively the Certified Surgical Technician/Surgical Assistant is under the Manager of Surgery and CCO.
  • 1) Experience with electronic and mechanical equipment
  • 2) Must receive department specific certification within one year of hire
  • 3) Hospital or surgical experience preferred
  • 4) High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 5) Sterile processing experience and/or training program preferred
  • 6) BLS
  • 7) Call may be required
New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required Basic Life Support (CPR)
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift 10-20 pounds daily, stand for long periods of time

  • Practices within the system and departmental policies and procedures.
  • There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills splashes during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.
