Laboratory - General Supervisor, Fort Worth

 SUMMARY STATEMENT:
  • Plans, coordinates, and directs the daily activities of the department and performs technical and sophisticated testing procedures to obtain timely and accurate clinical data. 
  • The Supervisor is responsible for monitoring actions, of all personnel who report to them, providing quality service and ensure compliance with CAP, TJC, FDA, AABB, AND CLIA, FACT standards. 
  • Provides technical assistance and training of Laboratory personnel, maintains data CQI and evaluates performance. 
  • Ensures validity and accuracy of test results by review of result logs, QC, CQI, and worksheets where applicable. 
  • Must be familiar with the various services available in the hospital and the interactions with the Laboratory. 
  • The Supervisor must continually strive to improve knowledge, leadership skills, training skills and technological skills, and knowledge through formal and informal education. 
  • The Supervisor will continually review and update information for age-related patient care addressing neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
 
REPORT RELATIONSHIP: 
  • Operationally, reports to the Laboratory Director.
 
REQUIREMENTS: 
  • 1) MT/MLS with a Bachelor Degree in Biological Science or MLT with an Associate Degree
  • 2) Knowledge of JC regulatory requirements preferred.         
  • 3) Must pass WorkSTEPS and color blind test
  • 4) One year of supervisory experience preferred.

  • There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employees when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.
 
Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
