MedSurg - PRN Bath Aide, Decatur

  • The Bath Aide provides assistance with the activities of daily living for Newborn, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric Patients. 
  • This assistance and bedside care is rendered under direction of a licensed nurse. 
  • The Bath Aide participates in the nursing process by assisting the licensed nurse through communication, observation, and implementation of care of a group of patients. 
  • The Bath Aide will perform duties in a customer friendly and safe manner.

The following functions are considered essential to this position.
  • 1) Be responsible for giving at least the minimum number of baths/showers to patients as defined by regulations on assigned unit.
  • 2) Communicate any patient skin issues with the primary nurse or charge nurse.
  • 3) Bathe all body parts, and shampoo hair and trim facial hair as needed.
  • 4) Required to document baths and pertinent information regarding patients as instructed.   
  • 5) All job duties require a positive and friendly attitude at all times with good communication skills. 
  • 6) Unit specific competency training and evaluation will be determined by the Manager.
  • 7) The Bath Aide is required to actively participate in the Med Surg Unit Council.
  • Directly reports to Licensed Nurse in charge of patient care, or Charge Nurse.
  • Directly supervises no employees
  • 1)  CPR certified
  • 2) Certification preferred
New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required Basic Life Support (CPR, ACLS, PALS, BLS, and/or any other life support certifications required for the job).
  • 1.  HS graduate or GED. 
  • 2.  Previous clinical experience. 
  • There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills splashes during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.
Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
Physical Requirements: 
  • Must be able to lift 40lbs on a regular basis and provide care to the patient population.
