Radiology - Centralized Scheduling Clerk II, Decatur

 Job Summary:  Centralized scheduling is responsible for scheduling, cancelling and confirming appointments for all services within WHS and WHC (excluding surgery). 
  • All exams will be scheduled with the allowed time parameters as defined by clinical staff. 
  • Gathers all essential information to facilitate the desired appointment and conveys special instructions to ensure the patient understands the test preparation orders. 
  • Incorporates AIDET into daily communications with patients, families, visitors and staff.
  • Verifies that correct patient is being selected and that no other medical record exists. Understands the importance to ensure this is done correctly and understands the patient safety issue if not verified correctly. 
  • Obtains correct demographic information and processes an accurate express registration
  • Understands the importance of benefit verification and authorizations
  • Refers to financial counselor as need
  • Complete understanding of admission process and it’s integration within the Revenue Cycle and other reporting measures throughout the hospital
  • Assists in ensuring that all patient information and documents are secure and confidential in accordance with HIPPA and hospital guidelines.
  • Validates that a complete order had been received to include provider signature and diagnosis.
  • Maintains current knowledge of insurance plans and government programs in order to ensure compliance with current hospital policies and procedures. 
  • Communicates test preparation orders
  • Schedules test/procedures for WHS and WHC services (excluding surgery).
  • Demonstrates full knowledge of scheduling and admission process as it relates to express registration. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Reporting Relationship: 
  • Functionally – Director of Imaging Services
  • Operationally – Director of Admissions
 
Requirements:
  • 1) High School Graduate preferred   
  • 2) Prior experience in hospital or clinic setting
 
OSHA TASK CATEGORY THREE:
  • There is no anticipated risk of exposure to mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashed during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing a task that is likely to cause exposure.
 
Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
 
Physical Demands: 
  • Ability to lift thirty (30) pounds
