IP Therapy - Acute Wound Care RN, Decatur

JOB SUMMARY: 
  • Provides acute wound care services while safely and efficiently preparing patients and equipment for their treatment in an inpatient setting.  
  • Responsible for providing routine and complex wound care services.  
  • Requires independent action and judgment to plan work, assess patients, educate patients/family and staff, assist with discharge planning and determine action to be taken according to standard procedure. 
  • Must be flexible and have the ability to work with a wide variety of patients. 
  • Utilizes appropriate verbal and non-verbal communication with patients, families, and other healthcare providers; perform other duties as assigned.
 
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: 
  • Operationally reports to Acute Wound Care Team Leader, Director of Acute Care Therapy and administratively to Vice-President  of Ancillary Services and the Chief Nursing Officer
 
REQUIREMENTS: 
  • 1) Graduate of an accredited nursing school
  • 2) Texas State RN licensure  
  • 3) BLS/CPR
  • 4) ACLS 
  • 5) Wound Care certification or Wound Care Specialist preferred
 
Must have current licensure/certifications upon hire. 

New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required Basic Life Support (CPR, ACLS, PALS, BLS, and/or any other life support certifications required for the job).
 
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Prolonged physical activity ambulating within the hospital; dexterity, lifting/carrying, reaching, kneeling/sitting, pulling/pushing, vision, and hearing. 
 
OSHA TASK CATEGORY TWO: 
  • There is an occasional risk of exposure to mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashed during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing a task that is likely to cause exposure.
 
Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
