  • The Licensed Vocational Nurse administers bedside patient care to Adult acute inpatient rehabilitation patients, assesses and documents the effects of care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. 
  • The LVN demonstrates skills basic to vocational training, and must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. 
  • The nurse must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess date reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient requirement relative to his or her age-specific needs. 
  • The nursing functions of the LVN are carried out according to hospital policy, hospital mission statement and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing.
  • The LVN will perform duties in a customer friendly and safe manner. 
  • The LVN should be able to documented attendance in a IV therapy course, completed training in IV management, and documented attendance in body mechanics/transfer training.
  • The LVN reports operationally to the Unit Charge Nurse, and administratively to the House Supervisor/Department Nurse Manager.
  1. LVN is a graduate of an accredited LVN school
  2. Current Texas LVN licensure
  3. CPR certification 
  1. ACLS certification 
  • There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employees when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.
