Chart Auditor, Secondary Market, Decatur

  • The chart auditor will be a resource for the strategic financial monitoring and business needs of enterprise specific to secondary market.
  • Participates in implementations and coordinating functions related to activities of opening a new location, business development activities, performs data analytics with payer or EMR data, and strategic reporting to support tracking to ensure secondary market locations are following policy in support of the enterprise mission and goals.
1. Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.

2. Provides support for the Billing/Collections department, Revenue Cycle Specialist, and Secondary Market department as requested to determine the appropriateness of patient charges based on documentation
3. Identifies charging issues that conflict with medical documentation and corrects discrepancies in the patient billing record.  Trends issues to address with revenue cycle specialist and secondary market department

5. Initiates any required follow up with individuals and/or secondary market locations that derive from audit findings
6. Reviews and verifies billing data for accuracy and completeness following regulatory requirements.
6.  Educates secondary market location staff in appropriate billing procedures and corrective procedures on accounts with errors

6. Assist in implementation of new locations and service lines.

7. Collaborate with Revenue Cycle Specialist, Secondary Market staff to review and evaluate the accuracy of documentation and corresponding billing
8.  Collaborates with a cross functional team in all aspect of managed location responsibilities
10. Provides support to Vice President of Secondary Market Services

11. Performs other duties as assigned by management.
  • Audit Manager
  • 1) One (1) year charge review experience in a medical setting.
  • 2) Experience in a healthcare environment required.
  • 3) High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred     
  • There is no anticipated risk of exposure to mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashed during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing a task that is likely to cause exposure

Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
