JOB TITLE:   Education Specialist
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:  Works under the Director of Education to coordinate and provide educational initiatives and continuing education to employees.  Participates, as needed, in new employee orientation and assists in determining and facilitating the educational needs of new employees.   Coordinates with department educators and assists with preparation of education materials, deployment of that education on the Learning Management System, and tracking of completion rates of the education delivered.  Actively seek out software, learning materials, educational programs that will improve the delivery methods of the education presented.  Ensures employees are current with all required certifications and competencies for unit population, as assigned.  Works closely with the Director and the education team to ensure that education is shared by all areas of the hospital where applicable.  Acts as a resource person for all departments in assigning staff education as needed.  Participate actively in committees as assigned and participate in education department functions such as hospital and community health fairs, as needed.  Actively seeks out additional learning opportunities, including conferences and seminars. 
TASKS include:
  1. Tracking completion rates of mandatory employee education and reporting rates to department leaders
  2. Be able to access and use the ‘Education Shared Drive’
  3. Be able to access and use the “Education Team” email address
  4. Keep Director of Education up to date on employee education projects
  5. Assist with updating educational material as new evidence based practice is updated
  6. Assist with arranging presentations, guest speakers, seminars
  7. Actively create education materials such as packets, PowerPoints, tests, as needed
  8. Assist with scheduling staff and community education classes
  9. May devise questionnaires to evaluate training program and/or materials
  10. Organizing and participating in yearly Educational Programs
REPORT RELATIONSHIP:  Reports to the Director of Education  
REQUIREMENTS:  1) BLS certification       New Hires will have 60 days to acquire this certification if they do not have it upon hire.
PREFERRED:  1) education development experience   2) 3 years healthcare experience
OSHA TASK CATEGORY TWO:  There is an occasional risk of exposure to mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashed during the performance of the job.  Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing a task that is likely to cause exposure.
 Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
