JOB TITLE:         Dialysis Office Manager
 
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:  Assumes responsibilities for direction and coordination of clerical activities of Dialysis unit, including but not limited to the following: scheduling, training and direct management of Ward Clerks.  Manages departmental correspondence and communications with staff and physicians, and manages personnel compliance files, assists in overseeing staff orientation program completion paperwork.  Will assist in the maintenance of a safe environment; will carry out expected duties accurately and as soon as possible; will maintain an efficient work environment; and will provide accurate and appropriate statistical information.   Promote a team-centered environment with all staff; Uphold the standards of Wise Health System Dialysis Center - Decatur by providing quality patient care and customer service; Maintain records of In center patients; Assist in completing forms and reports that are required by governmental agencies; Assist in maintaining personnel records of staff; Assist Social worker in coordinating travel arrangements of patients as needed; Assist Ward Clerk in routine functions as needed; Adhere to policy and procedure on Infection control; Prepare lab orders and tubes for required lab work for patients as needed; Maintain accurate records of hospitalization, patient travel etc to assure coordination of patient scheduling, lab testing, proper billing etc. as needed, Schedule appointments for patients and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Dialysis; Participate in special projects as assigned by the Director of Dialysis.  Good communication skills, word processing and computer skills, and knowledge of medical terminology.  Demonstrates organizational skills and basic office and computer skills.  Understands the basic operation of the unit and related communications.  Understands and shows respect for patient and employee rights including confidentiality of information and records.  Demonstrates the ability to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple projects simultaneously, possess Innovative problem solving abilities, proper verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to deal tactfully with medical staff members and personnel.  Excellent communication skills; excellent computer and office skills; prefer medical terminology    
 
REQUIREMENTS:  1)   HS graduate or equivalent preferred; 2) Minimum of one year office management experience   3) Post-secondary training/education in the area of Business Administration/Office Management preferred
 
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY:  Demonstrates organizational skills and basic office skills.  Understands the basic operation of a medical office and related communications.  Understands and shows respect for patient and employee rights including confidentiality of information and records.
 
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:  Operationally, the Dialysis Office Manager reports to the Director of Dialysis.  Oversees and assists ward clerks.
 
OSHA TASK CATEGORY TWO: There is an occasional risk of exposure to mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashed during the performance of the job.  Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by employee when performing a tasks likely to cause exposure.
 
Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
