Surgery - Lead Perioperative Scheduler, Argyle

JOB TITLE:       Lead Perioperative Scheduler - Argyle
The Lead Perioperative Scheduler collects and efficiently enters accurate and complete data into the electronic medical record as well as monitors, verifies, and confirms final schedules for pre-assessment and surgery. Monitors data for missing documents and discrepancies and contacts appropriate service to resolve. Serves as liaison between surgeon, office staff, operating room, pre-assessment testing, pre-op, and ancillary departments.  Schedule and maintain physician block times and releases. Communicates the need for special instruments, supplies and equipment to appropriate department. The staff member will have a positive friendly attitude; good communication skills; computer skills, and knowledge of medical terminology. Reports to leadership physician block time utilization and supervises any other perioperative scheduling staff members. May perform other tasks, as needed.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:  Reports directly to the Operating Room Manager and Argyle Administration
REQUIREMENTS:  1) HS diploma or GED preferred   2) Previous surgery scheduling experience 3) BLS, New hires will have 60 days to acquire this certification
There is no anticipated risk of exposure to mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes during the performance on the job.  Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing a task that is likely to cause exposure.

Follows guidelines, policies and safety requirements as determined by all relevant regulatory and standard setting agencies or organizations.  Practices within the system and departmental policies and procedures.
