Information Systems: Pharmacy IS Analyst, Bridgeport

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Pharmacy IS Analyst is responsible for leading and participating in acute, ambulatory and clinic medical management planning, development, implementation, training, evaluation of use, and optimization of pharmacy information systems. This role is responsible for building, testing, and implementing computer applications and other systems that support Wise Health System’s pharmacy initiatives. This role serves as the internal expert for pharmacy and is responsible for assisting in overall implementation and long-term maintenance & optimization activities. The Pharmacy IS Analyst collaborates closely with and communicates between IS and the Wise Health Systems pharmacy and clinical staff and leaders to align pharmacy system features and functionality with daily workflows and long term strategic objectives of WHS.
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with administration, pharmacy, clinical departments and associates, information services, and other disciplines to enhance their workflow methodology and tools
  • Works with pharmacy and clinical departments and IT team members in evaluating the effectiveness of technologies and workflows that impact clinical users
  • Acts as a change agent in the identification, development, planning, implementation of informatics strategies to support and promote quality patient care
  • Provides critical analysis and evaluation of health IT and recommends revision of pharmacy systems, processes, and workflow to ensure achievement of positive patient outcomes
  • Combines knowledge of patient care, informatics concepts, and change management to effectively address the information and knowledge needs of patients
  • Monitors the environment, technology, and infrastructure to support the prevention of medical errors and adverse events
  • Promotes the use of health IT to improve patient safety by designing, developing, implementing, and educating on decision support tools
  • Collaborates with leadership in project/program planning and development that supports department and organizational initiatives
  • Participates as a project leader and management support, focusing on initiatives supporting pharmacy, nursing, and/or clinical care services
  • Assesses, plans, designs, implements, and evaluates pharmacy workflow and business processes to define technology needs
  • Takes complete ownership of assigned tasks; takes initiative and drives to bring to logical conclusion; proactive approach
  • Continually assesses the education needs of staff, patients, and families. Plans and contributes to formal and informal education for staff, patients and families
  • Participates actively in committees by the Director of Enterprise Solutions
  • Provides after hour and weekend support as needed time in a mission critical environment.
  • Demonstrates good organizational skills, good verbal and written communication skills.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:  Manager, Clinical Informatics
REQUIREMENTS:  1) Licensed Pharmacist required.  2) 2yrs recent experience in a health care setting.  3) Experience with pharmacy automation (i.e. Pyxis, Allscripts) preferred.
Must have current licensure/certifications upon hire.
