Fit-N-Wise: Exercise Specialist, FT, days/hours vary, Decatur

  • Exercise Specialist is responsible for helping oversee the community exercise  facility by having an understanding of the fitness assessments program, equipment, health risk profiles for new members, and the strength and conditioning.
  • The Exercise Specialist will assist Fitness Floor coordinator with ideas and program protocols.
  • The Exercise Specialist is also responsible for keeping equipment clean, properly running and reports any malfunctioning to the Fitness floor Coordinator or Sports and Fitness manager.
  • Communication/ writing skills, some working knowledge of computer programs and operations, and must be able to communicate to wellness members.
  • Demonstrate effective communicating methods and skills, using appropriate reporting structures.
  • Demonstrate TEAM work.
  • Documentation of maintenance and cleaning of equipment
  • Documentation of attendance and payment
  • Documentation of problems
  • Documentation of facility check list open and close
  • Performs efficiently in emergency situations, handles conflicts and presents themselves in a professional manner.
  • The Exercise Specialist will provide a friendly and inviting experience in an environment that will enhance the quality of life, physical and emotional well-being for individuals, families and employees on and around the Fitness facility.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Fitness Floor Coordinator
  • Currently enrolled in an Exercise Sport Science program or 2 yrs minimum related experience a preferred
  • CPR certification.
New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required Basic Life Support (CPR, ACLS, PALS, BLS, and/or any other life support certifications required for the job).
OASH TASK CATEGORY: There is an occasional risk of exposure to mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashed during the performance of the job.  Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing a task that is likely to cause exposure.
Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Ability to demonstrate workout procedures to clients
