Nursing Administration - RN Float Pool, Decatur

  • Coordinates nursing care and patient/family education for Newborn, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric patients as assigned, through the use of the nursing process; maintains positive working relationships with staff and other departments to provide optimal quality outcomes within the framework of professional nursing practice. 
  • These responsibilities are met according to hospital policy, hospital mission statement and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing. 
  • Works as assignments are offered in General Resource Pool, including the following areas:  Medical-Surgical, Behavioral Health, In-patient Rehabilitation, and Post-Partum. 
  • Operationally, the Staff RN reports the House Supervisor, and administratively to the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer.
  • Demonstrates knowledge base and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the condition and age of the patients served. 
  • The nurse must demonstrate familiarity with the principles of growth and development throughout the life cycle. 
  • The nurse must be able to assimilate basic knowledge and patient related data to perform a comprehensive and age appropriate assessment. 
  • Must be oriented and competent to function safely in all areas included in the General Resource Pool;  competency validation will be retained on individual units and in Nursing Office.
  • 1.) Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing    
  • 2.) Possess current licensure to practice nursing in Texas    
  • 3.) Must be certified in BCLS 
  • 1.) ACLS    
  • 2.)  Specialty Certification    
  • 3.)  Basic Arrhythmia/Telemetry training
