Surgery - Pre-Op Assessment RN/ Nurse Auditor - Fort Worth

JOB TITLE:          PARKWAY PRE-OPERATIVE ASSESSMENT REGISTERED NURSE/ NURSE AUDITOR
 
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • The Preoperative Assessment RN completes scheduled pre-op assessments of outpatient and inpatient surgical patients, including same day admit surgical patients; communicates patient needs with the appropriate health care providers and provides follow-up with abnormal diagnostics with the pre-op holding nurses, the pre-op nurse auditor, the surgeon(s), primary care physician, the anesthesia nurse, and anesthesia providers.
  • The Preoperative Assessment RN follows anesthesia guidelines and implements preoperative assessment orders. 
  • The Preoperative Assessment Audit RN completes audits of all scheduled pre-op assessments of outpatient and inpatient surgical patients, and same day admit surgical patients, when possible. 
  • The Preoperative Assessment Audit RN communicates patients’  needs with the appropriate health care providers and follows up with abnormal diagnostics with the pre-op assessment and holding nurses, the surgeon(s), primary care physician, the anesthesia nurse and anesthesia providers.
  • The Preoperative Assessment Audit RN follows anesthesia guidelines and implements preoperative assessment orders.
 
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: 
  • Directly reports to and is under the supervision of the Perioperative Clinical Manager. 
  • Administratively, the pre-operative Assessment RN reports to and is under the direct supervision of the Director of Surgery and the Chief Nursing Officer.


REQUIREMENTS:
  • 1)  Current State of Texas licensure of Registered Nurse
  • 2) 2 years of perioperative nursing clinical experience, preferred 
  • 3) BLS
  
Must have current licensure/certifications upon hire.  
 
OSHA TASK CATEGORY ONE: 
  • There is an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills splashes during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing those tasks likely to cause exposure.
 
Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Able to lift up to ten pounds independently. 
  • Able to independently provide and/or assist with direct patient care in the Pre-op Assessment areas.
