Behavioral Health - IOP Admissions Therapist

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsible to assimilate basic knowledge and patient  related data to perform a comprehensive and age appropriate pre-admission  assessment, identify mental health needs, and make recommendations for appropriate level of care including admissions, referrals, resource allocation and alternative level of care.  Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to assess and provide interventions appropriate to the condition and age of patients served.  Must demonstrate familiarity with the principles of mental health assessment, status, crisis intervention, and growth/development throughout life cycle.   Responsible to gather clinical data and complete initial pre-admission authorization / certification as required by payers.  Responsible for liaison role with physicians, nursing staff, the court, community providers, referrals sources, and internal customers.  Responsible to ensure continuity of care.
REPORT RELATIONSHIPS:  Reports to the Program Director administratively
REQUIREMENTS: 1.  BA in psychology, social work or behavioral science field from an accredited school.  Prefer Master’s Degree in Behavioral health field.  2. Meet the requirement for Pre-Admission Screening Professional (PASP) as defined by the state of Texas. 3.  Texas Licensure in Social Work or Licensed Professional Counselor   4.  1 year of mental health or related experience.  5.  CPR Certification.
Must have current licensure/certifications upon hire. 

New Hires will have 60 days to acquire the required Basic Life Support (CPR, ACLS, PALS, BLS, and/or any other life support certifications required for the job).
OSHA TASK CATEGORY TWO:  There is occasional risk of exposure to mucus membranes or skin contact with bloody, body fluids, or tissues or potential spills or splashed during the performance of the job.  Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by employee when performing tasks that is likely to cause exposure
Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
