SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Ability to create a decision support/costs accounting department within a growing organization.
  • Participate in financial analysis task of varied nature and depth, including cost accounting, service line reporting, budgeting, responsibility and various other reporting and analytical projects. 
  • Work with management as the point person to provide financial reports on various services lines and provide ownership of the decision support system used to process decision support data. 
  • Functions will include, but will not be limited to, providing ad-hoc reporting and in depth financial analysis to support the needs and requests of hospital management and managers.
  • This includes maintaining and standardizing the costs data and metrics used in the decision support system, including the development of a costs system that considers Relative Value Units to allocate costs where possible. 
  • Perform monthly mapping of department charge codes to appropriate statistics; perform reconciliation of data interfaced into the decision support tool from the payroll and GL systems to ensure its accuracy and completeness. 
  • Will monitor and follow up with individual departments on budget outcomes and follow through on responses to variances where necessary. 
  • Will assist accounting in the development of the annual budget where possible.
  • With the aid of the decision support tool, will work with various personnel to ensure the Hospital is benefiting from potential costs saving measures as part of an overall continuous improvement protocol.
  • Will assist with training department managers, data input and reporting and include ability to analyze financial results.
  • Other duties could include evaluating ROI on projects; lease versus buy comparisons, cash procedure /retail price setting and general financial projects as requested by management. 
  • Manage the productivity tool, assess progress and results. 
 
REPORT RELATIONSHIP:  Reports to the CFO/Sr VP Financial and Administrative Services

 
REQUIREMENTS: 
  • 1) Bachelor degree in Accounting and/or Finance or similar field
  • 2) Minimum 4 years experience in financial analysis, preferably in a hospital setting. 
  • 3) Experience with decision support, cost accounting and budgeting are preferred.

  • There is no anticipated risk of exposure to mucous membranes or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashed during the performance of the job. 
  • Universal precautions must be observed and protective devices worn by the employee when performing a task that is likely to cause exposure.
 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Duties of the position require intermittent walking, sitting and standing. 
  • Some bending, stooping and reaching is required with the lifting of items up to a weight of 40 pounds
 
Employment standards include current requirements as determined by Federal, State, and Wise Health System policy.
